The “Global Shrimp Markets: Looking Beyond the pandemic” webinar organized by the Society of Aquaculture Professionals, live on Zoom from the 23rd to 24th of September, 2020. COVID-19 is complicating the supply chains in most of the shrimp farming countries and disrupting the markets in the major shrimp consuming countries. This webinar had provided perspective about both supply & demand sides of the market. On September 23rd, global experts on the shrimp business, namely George Chamberlain (Global Aquaculture Alliance), Angel Rubio (Urner Barry), Vincent Lin (Grobest Foods), Pawan Kumar Gunturu (Sprint Foods) and Willem van der Pijl (Shrimp Insights) have provided an outlook of markets in the U.S, E.U and China. On the 24th, the supply scenario in India (Paresh Shetty), Ecuador (Gabriel Luna), Vietnam (Samson Li) and Indonesia (Haris Muhtadi) have been discussed. The webinar concluded that the Global Shrimp demand supply has only moderately been affected by disruptions due to the pandemic and it is more likely that the response to price falls would redefine markets in future.
